While I was online watching (substituting my itunes) youtube music, the commercial came up before the video played. It was the emusic advertisement, which they're comparable to beatport or billboards chart rating website, they also advertise new music. I've stumbled upon a band called M83 and I've never heard of their complete album but after hearing several of their previews I was intrigued by the unique style of music they have created. First song that I decided to look up from their album using youtube was *apparently* their hit single.
"Midnight City"
This song reminds me of the old 90's beat and also it has the kind of feeling of tranquility, but at the same time its quite upbeat, I find this song style almost similar to the ones created by Passion Pit, a boston electropop music band.
The interesting part of the music is the trumpet blaring the solo part near the end and to be honest, I felt the vibe of the 90's yet I can still feel the modern touch to it.
Without even looking them up from Wiki, I think M83 has some influence in their style from MGMT, U2, and maybe Passion Pit, which I like them all. But other than that I recommend looking at the video, disregard the creepy stare of the boy in the video.
Oh and the funny part about the music is that it was advertised in a way to show the scientific results of dreams while listening to their music. I chuckled a bit because part of me actually believed it and oh how I love satire. Emusic was trying to exaggerate how effective music can be when listeners sleep
